Now behold, this Lachoneus, the Governor, was a just man, and could not be frightened by the demands and the threatenings of a robber; therefore he did not hearken to the epistle of Giddianhi, the Governor of the robbers, but he did cause that his people should cry unto the Lord for strength against the time that the robbers should come down against them;

Lachoneus the governor was a fair man. The demands and threats from a robber could not scare him. So he did not listen to the letter from Giddianhi, the robber governor. Instead, he had his people pray to the Lord for strength. They needed strength for when the robbers would come.

Lachoneus was a righteous man. He couldn’t be intimidated by threats from a robber. He refused to give in to Giddianhi’s demands. Instead, he called on his people to cry out to the Lord for strength to face the coming attack.
