3 Nephi 3:1

And now it came to pass that in the sixteenth year from the coming of Christ, Lachoneus, the Governor of the land, received an epistle from the leaders and the Governor of this band of robbers; and these were the words which were written, saying:

In the sixteenth year after Christ came, Lachoneus was the governor of the land. He received a letter from the leader of the robber gang. This is what the letter said:

In the sixteenth year after Christ’s coming, Lachoneus, the governor of the land, received a letter from the leader of the robber band. It read:
