3 Nephi 11:18

And it came to pass that he spake unto Nephi, (for Nephi was among the multitude,) and he commanded him that he should come forth.

He spoke to Nephi, because Nephi was in the crowd. He told him to come forward.

Then Jesus spoke to Nephi—he was there in the crowd—and told him to come forward.
