and there was also a cause of much sorrow among the Lamanites: for behold, they had many children which did grow up and began to wax strong in years, that they became for themselves, and were led away by some which were Zoramites, by their lyings and their flattering words, to join those Gadianton robbers;

There was also much sorrow among the Lamanites, for they had many children who grew up and became strong in years, and they became independent and were led away by some who were Zoramites, through their lies and flattering words, to join those Gadianton robbers.

The Lamanites also had reason to grieve. Many of their children grew up and were led away by Zoramites who used lies and smooth talk to recruit them into the Gadianton robbers.
