Behold, my beloved brethren, that I, Jacob, having been called of God, and ordained after the manner of his holy order, and having been consecrated by my brother, Nephi, unto whom ye look as a king or a protector, and on whom ye depend for safety, behold, ye know that I have spoken unto you exceeding many things;

Simple English

My dear brothers and sisters, I, Jacob, have been called by God. I was made a priest in his holy order. My brother Nephi made me a priest. You look to Nephi as your king and protector. You depend on him to keep you safe. You know that I have spoken to you many times.

Paraphrase

My brothers and sisters, you know me—Jacob. God called me and ordained me as a priest. My brother Nephi consecrated me, and you look to him as your king and protector, your source of safety. You know I’ve taught you many things.
