2 Nephi 26:20

And the Gentiles are lifted up in the pride of their eyes, and have stumbled, because of the greatness of their stumbling block, that they have built up many Churches; nevertheless they put down the power and the miracles of God, and preach up unto themselves, their own wisdom, and their own learning, that they may get gain, and grind upon the face of the poor;

The Gentiles are lifted up with pride in their eyes. They have stumbled because of their big stumbling block. They have built up many churches. But they reject God’s power and miracles. They preach their own wisdom and their own learning. They do this to get money and hurt the poor.

The Gentiles are full of pride. They’ve stumbled because of what blocks their way—they’ve built many churches. Yet they deny God’s power and his miracles. They preach their own wisdom and their own learning so they can make money and exploit the poor.
