2 Nephi 2:1

And now, Jacob, I speak unto you: Thou art my first born in the days of my tribulation in the wilderness. And behold, in thy childhood, thou hast suffered afflictions and much sorrow, because of the rudeness of thy brethren.

Jacob, I speak to you now. You were my first son born during our hard times in the desert. When you were a child, you had trouble and much sadness because your brothers were mean to you.

Jacob, let me speak to you. You were my firstborn during those hard times in the wilderness. Even as a child, you suffered so much pain and sorrow because of how cruel your brothers were to you.
