And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, and Rezin, king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up towards Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

Simple English

When Ahaz was king of Judah, two other kings tried to attack Jerusalem. These were Rezin, king of Syria, and Pekah, king of Israel. But they could not win against Jerusalem.

Paraphrase

During the reign of Ahaz—son of Jotham, grandson of Uzziah—king of Judah, Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, marched toward Jerusalem to attack it. But they couldn’t break through.
