2 Nephi 1:2

And he spake unto them concerning their rebellions upon the waters, and the mercies of God in sparing their lives, that they were not swallowed up in the sea.

He spoke to them about how they had turned against each other on the ocean. He spoke about how God had shown mercy by keeping them alive so they were not swallowed up by the sea.

He talked about their rebellion on the journey, and how God’s mercy kept them from drowning in the sea.
