~600 BC

1830 Edition

And it came to pass that when Laman saw me, he was exceedingly frightened, and also Lemuel and Sam. And they fled from before my presence; for they supposed it was Laban, and that he had slain me, and had sought to take away their lives also.

Changes

And it came to pass that when Laman saw me, he was exceedingly frightened, and also Lemuel and Sam. And they fled from before my presence; for they supposed it was Laban, and that he had slain me, and had sought to take away their lives also.

Simple English

When Laman saw me, he was very scared. Lemuel and Sam were scared too. They ran away from me. They thought I was Laban and that he had killed me and wanted to kill them too.

Paraphrase

When Laman saw me coming, he panicked. So did Lemuel and Sam. They ran—they thought Laban had killed me and was coming for them next.
