1 Nephi 4:24

And I also spake unto him that I should carry the engravings which were upon the plates of brass, to my elder brethren, which were without the walls.

I also told him that I should carry the writings on the brass plates to my older brothers who were outside the walls.

I told him I needed to take the brass plates to my older brothers waiting outside the walls.
