Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain; surely, my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God.

Simple English

Then I said: “I have worked for nothing. I have used my strength for nothing and in vain. My judgment belongs with the Lord. My work belongs with my God.”

Paraphrase

But I said, “I’ve worked for nothing. I’ve poured out my strength and gotten nowhere.” Still, I know the Lord will judge me fairly, and my God holds my work in his hands.
