1 Nephi 16:38

Now, he saith that the Lord hath talked with him, and also, that angels hath ministered unto him! But behold, we know that he lieth unto us; and he telleth us these things, and he worketh many things by his cunning arts, that he may deceive our eyes, thinking, perhaps, that he may lead us away into some strange wilderness; and after that he hath led us away, he hath thought to make himself a King and a ruler over us, that he may do with us according to his will and pleasure. And after this manner, did my brother Laman stir up their hearts to anger.

He says the Lord has talked to him. He says angels have visited him! But we know he lies to us. He tells us these things and does many clever tricks to fool us. He thinks he can lead us into some strange wilderness. After he leads us away, he plans to make himself king and ruler over us. Then he can do whatever he wants with us.“ This is how my brother Laman stirred them up to anger.
