and ye have led away much of this people, that they pervert the right way of God, and keep not the law of Moses, which is the right way; and convert the law of Moses into the worship of a being, which ye say shall come many hundred years hence. And now behold, I, Sherem, declare unto you, that this is blasphemy; for no man knoweth of such things: for he cannot tell of things to come. And after this manner did Sherem contend against me.

'You have led many people away. They have left God’s right way. They don’t keep the law of Moses anymore, which is the right way. You’ve turned the law of Moses into worship of someone you say will come many hundred years from now. I, Sherem, tell you this is wrong. No one knows such things. No one can tell what will happen in the future.' This is how Sherem argued with me.

Paraphrase

You’ve led many people astray from the right path. You don’t follow the law of Moses anymore, which is God’s way. Instead, you’ve turned it all into worship of someone you say will come hundreds of years from now. I’m telling you, that’s blasphemy. No one can know things like that. No one can predict the future.' That’s how Sherem argued with me.
